The following garden design courses aim to cover most aspects from designing your own garden to becoming a professional Garden designer. There are courses to improve your plant knowledge and show you how to paint a pallet of colour for your borders. There are also courses to help you draw up a plan both by hand and using a computer. The Professional Diploma Course provides training for those who wish to learn the necessary skills to become a practicing Garden Designer. Based on the suggested content for a garden design course by The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) the course is a balanced to give you maximum information in a relatively short space of time.

Those attending the Professional course must consider this essential course. Open to other professionals and those seeking to brush up their skills, it is a week long course of drawing up a garden design plan with all the necessary accompanying drawings to make it workable and aestetic.

This introductory class on garden design will explain what is required to design a garden. Designs for patios and walls to choices on various plants for all situations will be explored. Some draughting and survey techniques will be explored with a view to you measuring up your own garden or project.

For the second term, we will look at developing the design for your garden or project and exploring the choice of plants are the main ingredients for this term's course. Amanda Patton will be helping with this and showing you how to draw up a planting plan.

What better than to spend Monday morning visiting gardens and gaining inspiration and enjoyment from some of the most beautiful gardens in the world. The gardens are local (within an hour of The Beeches) and will include Sissinghurst, and others. Where possible the owner or head gardener will act as our guide.
